Does the devil have a face for you?

I read a question recently that stopped me in my tracks:

“If you were the devil, how would you destroy the minds of people on earth? (Or the young minds of the next generation...but I wanted to be a bit more liberal with it)”

I know—it’s intense. But stay with me.

It got me thinking… not in a spooky, dramatic way, but in a real, everyday-life kind of way. Because the more I sat with it, the more I realized: you don’t need chaos or catastrophe to unravel someone. Especially a woman. Sometimes, all it takes is a slow, quiet erosion of her spirit. A thousand little lies, whispered just loud enough to sound like truth.

Lies like: You’re not enough. You’re too much. You should be further along. You’re only valuable if you look a certain way. You don’t deserve rest. You need to be everything for everyone. Your worth is in your body, your productivity, your perfection.

Sound familiar?

That’s the thing. Most of us don’t even realize when it starts. We just wake up one day feeling disconnected. Exhausted. Small. We look in the mirror and don’t recognize the woman staring back. We forget what it feels like to be grounded in ourselves. We become so good at shrinking, performing, and pleasing that we lose sight of who we actually are.

And that’s exactly where the story flips.

Because we are not here to play small.

We are not here to live numb or quiet or constantly apologizing for taking up space.

And this is exactly why I do what I do.

When you walk into my studio at Robyn Barkley Photography in Bonita Springs, I’m not just photographing your body. I’m reminding you of your power. I’m reflecting back the woman you’ve forgotten—beneath the noise, beneath the expectations, beneath the decades of trying to “be enough.”

Your boudoir session?

It’s rebellion.

It’s healing.

It’s holy.

It’s the moment you say, “No more.”

No more shrinking. No more shame. No more silence.

You get to rewrite the story. You get to look into your own eyes and say, “There you are. I’ve missed you.”

And I don’t care if you come in wearing lingerie, a silky robe, your favorite jeans, or nothing but a bedsheet—because what matters most is how you feel. And my goal is for you to walk out of here taller, freer, and more in love with yourself than you ever thought possible.

Because here’s the truth the world doesn’t want you to hear:

You were never broken.

You were buried.

Under expectations. Under trauma. Under lies.

But you? You’re rising.

So maybe the devil tries to destroy minds.

But women like us? We rebuild them.

We lift each other.

We love louder.

We remind each other that the most dangerous thing a woman can be is fully herself.

And honestly? That’s the most beautiful kind of power.

If something stirred in you while reading this… if even a small part of you whispered “I want that”—then maybe it’s time.

Time to see yourself again.

Time to reclaim what the world tried to take.

I’d be honored to walk that journey with you.

Let’s create something powerful together—something that shows you the truth of who you are.
